Pastry: Thin and crispy on top; thicker and doughier further down. Its softness complements well the densely packed meat but also offers a crispy resistance. 4/5

Meat: Chewy but tender. Tastes rich and piggy. Densely packed and fills pie perfectly. Not too dry. 4/5
Jelly: In some places the jelly is more fluid and adds moisture to the meat. The pie could do with slightly less of the more solid jelly but not a major weakness. 3/5
Appearance and value: Looks great. Simple and rustic. At only £2 for a generous size, excellent value for money. 4/5


Overall rating and summary: This pie made me very happy. Great first pie to review. 15/20
